King to be patron of exhibition
His Majesty King Willem-Alexander has accepted the patronage of the exhibition 'In the Heart of the Renaissance' at the Rijksmuseum Twenthe, Enschede. The exhibition opens on 11 February 2017 and will run through 18 June. The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, is also patron of the exhibition.
The majority of the works on display in Enschede are on loan from the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia, Italy. This museum, which has a large collection of works by artists of the Northern Italian Renaissance, will be closed for renovation in the coming years. This temporary closure has made it possible for the Rijksmuseum Twenthe to showcase so many works by Italian masters like Raphael, Titian and Bellini.
