Queen Máxima to speak on financial health at the INSEAD Alumni Forum Europe 2025

On the afternoon of Friday 4 April 2025 Her Majesty Queen Máxima will attend the INSEAD Alumni Forum in Passenger Terminal Amsterdam. The event’s theme is ‘Lead with Integrity, Shape the Future Now!’. Following the official opening, the Queen will take part in a fireside chat with Professor Mark Stabile, Dean of the INSEAD Europe Campus, on the topic of financial health.

The talk will focus specifically on what financial health is, and how financial service providers and policy makers can contribute to it. The Queen describes financial health as follows: ‘We want to ensure that people can use financial products and services that help them get a grip on their day-to-day income and expenses, that they can invest or save for long-term goals, that they can protect themselves from financial setbacks such as job loss, and that they have confidence in their financial future.’ The fourth part of the definition alludes to financial stress, which can impact physical and mental health and temporarily lower a person’s IQ by around 13 points.

After the plenary event, Queen Máxima and a small group of alumni will continue discussing financial health.

This year’s INSEAD Alumni Forum zeroes in on four themes that represent the most pressing global challenges of this century: managing climate risk and water resources; feeding the world responsibly; innovating tech for a complex world; and leading towards a fair and safe society.

As the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health, Queen Máxima is working worldwide to promote financial health. In the Netherlands, she does this in her role as honorary chair of Stichting SchuldenlabNL and the Money Wise Platform, and as the initiator of the National Financial Health Coalition. Collaboration with public and private partners is essential to her work.
