State visit by the Sultan of Oman
At the invitation of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman will pay a state visit to the Netherlands on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 April. This year marks the 400th anniversary of maritime ties between the two countries. The state visit will also focus on economic cooperation, with a special emphasis on renewable energy. Other topics will include the production and export of green hydrogen, water management, and sustainable logistics and mobility.
Tuesday 15 April
Morning
Welcome ceremony
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will officially welcome the Sultan on Dam Square in Amsterdam. After the delegations have been introduced, the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy will play both countries’ national anthems. This will be followed by an inspection of the guard of honour.
At the Royal Palace in Amsterdam the Dutch dignitaries will be introduced, after which a reception and private lunch will be held.
Wreath-laying
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq will lay a wreath at the National Monument on Dam Square.
Afternoon
CEO business meeting
The Sultan and the King will meet with representatives of several Dutch companies that are interested in doing business in Oman, accompanied by the president of the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW).
Evening
State banquet
In the evening, the King and Queen will host a state banquet at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, where King Willem-Alexander and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq will both give speeches. The state banquet will also be attended by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Orange.

Morning
Visit to the States General
At the States General in The Hague, the Sultan will meet with President of the Senate Jan Anthonie Bruijn and President of the House of Representatives Martin Bosma.
Afternoon
Government lunch
Prime Minister Dick Schoof will welcome Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to Duivenvoorde Castle in Voorschoten for a lunch hosted by the Dutch government. The event will be attended by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, and will focus on Dutch-Omani bilateral relations, as well as economic and trade ties, cooperation on the energy transition, and the production of green hydrogen. Regional developments will also be discussed. During the lunch the Prime Minister and the Sultan will each give a speech.
