Official visit by the President of Mozambique - program
The president of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, will be in the Netherlands from Wednesday 17 May to Friday 19 May for an official visit. The trip is aimed at further strengthening the wide-ranging bilateral relationship between the Netherlands and Mozambique.
On Wednesday 17 May President Nyusi will meet with Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen at Noordeinde Palace. Immediately afterwards, he will meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders.
On Thursday 18 May, President Nyusi will be welcomed to the Senate by the presidents of the two houses of parliament, Ms Ankie Broekers-Knol (Senate) and Ms Khadija Arib (House of Representatives). He will then visit the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship in Rotterdam. The president’s agenda for the afternoon consists of a visit to the Port of Rotterdam and to Deltares. The day will conclude with a roundtable discussion with Dutch NGOs that are active in Mozambique and a visit to the Mozambique Business Forum, organised by the Netherlands-African Business Council.
On Friday morning 19 May, Prime Minister Mark Rutte will meet with the president at the Catshuis. Immediately after their meeting, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will host a ceremonial reception for the president and his wife at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague, followed by a private audience. After that the King and Queen will give a lunch for the presidential couple, where both the King and President Nyusi will deliver a speech. After lunch, the president will meet with Queen Máxima in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. Later that afternoon President Nyusi will visit a knowledge platform on food security in De Lier, and attend a reception in Delft by the Mozambican community in the Netherlands.
